ABOUT
About NGF Education
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization advancing public health through golf research and making the game accessible through education.
Our Story
The National Golf Foundation has served the golf industry since 1936, working to grow participation and understanding of the game. NGF Education Inc. is the Foundation's 501(c)(3) nonprofit arm, established to focus specifically on education and research that serves the public interest.
NGF Education Inc. has held tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code since 1977. Originally incorporated as “National Golf Foundation 1, Inc.,” the organization updated its name to NGF Education Inc. to better reflect its mission. The EIN (36-2921655) remains unchanged, and IRS records reflect the current name.
Today, NGF Education operates two flagship programs: Golf's Health Dividend, a multi-university academic research initiative documenting the health benefits of golf, and Welcome2Golf, a comprehensive educational platform designed to help beginners start their golf journey.
What We Do
Academic Research
We partner with leading research universities to produce peer-reviewed studies on golf and public health. Our current flagship study, Golf's Health Dividend, is a PRISMA-guided systematic review of over 2,700 health citations conducted in collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, George Washington University, and the University of Maryland.
Beginner Education
Through Welcome2Golf, we produce free educational content that removes barriers to entry for new golfers. Nine chapters of expert-crafted video and written content cover everything from equipment basics to course etiquette, helping people start the game with confidence.
Public Health Advocacy
We work to position golf as a recognized public health intervention by building the evidence base that policymakers, healthcare providers, and community organizations need to support golf access and programming.
Academic Partnerships
NGF Education maintains active research partnerships with three leading universities:
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
George Washington University
University of Maryland
